KiHara Aikido

KiHara Aikido is a system of Self-Defense developed by Hanshi Karl Geis after being requested by the legendary Judo practioneer and Aikidoka Kenji Tomiki to expand his ideas of Tomiki-Ryu Aikido here in the United States.

With the aid of Tsunako Miyake Shihan, Takeshi Inoue Shihan, and Mr. Tomiki himself the Fugakukai International Association was created in 1982.

Sensei Geis’ variation of Tomiki Shihan's training method enabled the practioneer to learn a variety of effective techniques principled around the theory of Off-balance in an accelerated amount of time catering to our, sometimes hostile, American way of life.

Here at Dharmakaya Aikido, we expand on these teachings to fit an urban environment and the hostile situations which may occur in everyday life.

In a sense Dharmakaya Aikido is an “Urbanized” approach to the true art of fighting without fighting methods described by the KiHara System.
